benefits of moon rituals & ceremonies
Maybe you’ve seen photos on your instagram feeds. Perhaps you were invited to a new moon or full moon circle. This ritualistic and ceremonial practice is really gaining momentum and followers, which is a very good thing. New moon and full moon rituals have great benefits psychologically, even if you aren’t a person that is into all of the “woo woo” energetic power they have.
Within the moon cycle, the new moon is energetically a time for renewal, refocusing, and manifesting. The new moon is a renewal and rebirth; it gives the space for you to reset on your authentic life path and refocus on what truly needs your energy. Writing your ideas, goals, or intentions down or stating them out loud hold power. Not only is it scientifically proven that doing so helps your subconscious “store” the goal or intention, but it also can especially powerful during the full moon.
During the full moon, there is a energy of that gives space for reflection, letting go and action all in one. It’s a time for you to reflect on what is giving you the energy you need and what is no longer serving you. If something, someone, a feeling you have, a habit - anything at all - isn’t serving forward toward your manifestation or goal, this is the time to let it go. This is also known as trimming the fat from your life. Once you’ve reflected on where this needs to happen for you, you can start to take action or make a plan of action on how you will continue to work towards your goals that were set during the new moon.
Today is the last new moon of 2018. It is a new moon in Sagittarius, bringing in a new energy to areas in our life that have been dull, neglected, or that we thought were impossible to reach. Now is the time to summon new goals or recommit to old goals that we’ve let slip away — we have cosmic power on our sides.
If you are someone that believes in the power of the moon’s energy, I invite you to engage in a moon ceremony during this last new moon of the year. It will be a fabulous way to start a new ritual; one that can take you into 2019. Even though there is no right or wrong way to perform your own moon ritual (it’s all about what YOU are called to), I recommend this simple one:
Create a sacred space space — Use crystals, feathers, photos of memories, poems, books, plants, candles, oils, etc. to create this space. Cleanse the space with palo santo or sage. If possible, make this space outside or near a window for the moon’s energy to flow.
Center yourself through deep, intentionally breath. Count to four each time in and out. In through the nose, out through the mouth.
Using a journal specifically for rituals during the moon cycle, set your ideas, goals, and manifestations for the new moon. Reflect on areas that need work or need to be released and make your plan of action during the full moon.
After you’ve done your journaling, engage in some type of self care. It can be a face mask, going to bed early, indulging in some cacao candy. My ritual includes taking a bubble bath with lots of essential oils and epsom salts, followed by the alma onda ritual bundle of spirit renew mist, desert outward in body butter, and the awake & alive eye serum. Then, I go to bed very early!
So… what if you aren’t into the “woo woo” stuff and don’t actually think the moon has any energy? Well fortunately, all of the above is still really good for you to do!! It is still deeply beneficial to take time to yourself, create a quiet space, journal, reflect, and perform a self-care ritual. Especially in this crazy time to be a human - constant screen time, no down time, always on the go, spending so much time indoors - it’s proven to improve your health to take time to breath, reflect, and remove yourself from the stressful habits of life.
Happy New Moon Manifesting!
